Humans of La Sierra: Anna Clark

  Humans of La Sierra

Hey friends!  My name is Anna, and I am finishing up my third year pursuing Social Work. I am so passionate about helping others and empowering our communities to make a difference in the world. Being honest and real, during these trying times it seems as though life can’t slow down! Everyday brings new challenges, such as my grandmother’s health declining drastically and adjusting to life after losing a parent, my father.

Just a little over 7 months ago I lost my father unexpectedly right before fall quarter started. That day was such a blur. Today I am writing this in honor of my Dad’s incredible legacy.

As some of you may know, my Dad was a pastor and a devoted man of God. My Dad believed so strongly in education and having a faith based community in which I could call my own. Here at La Sierra, I am surrounded by so many amazing individuals and mentors who have helped me during this grieving process. Let me tell you, friends, grief is a difficult topic to discuss at times because it opens us up to vulnerability. But I have learned that it is during these vulnerable times where we end up learning the MOST about ourselves, others, and Christ.

With all of this being said, I encourage you, La Sierra community, to share your story with others because you never know who needs to hear your story of pain, grief, but most of all...healing.

Your friend,

Anna
