We pursue this mission with excellence, integrity, compassion, and mutual respect in harmony with the overall mission of La Sierra University.

Our Vision in the Health & Exercise Science department is:

HEALTH SCIENCE

Health Science prepares students to recognize social, cultural, economic, political and biological effects on personal and community health. Students will be able to describe the United States profile, including key indicators, determinants, disparities, access to health services, and both historical and contemporary trends and implications. Graduates of this degree will understand the role of research, evaluation, and the use of data in health promotion, disease prevention, and health services.

EXERCISE SCIENCE

The La Sierra University Exercise Science program prepares students to become professional practitioners of the discipline in a variety of career endeavors through a rigorous course of study. Our program includes training in the philosophical and mechanical foundations of human movement and health, while providing instruction, training and experience in research and field work.

If you have the desire to help people live healthier lives through the knowledge of the principles of wellness and the science of human movement, then this is an ideal degree for you to consider. Students graduating with a degree in Exercise Science may consider careers in wellness and fitness center management, personal fitness certification, or apply to various graduate programs. Graduate programs of interest for most Exercise Science majors are Physical Therapy, schools of medicine and dentistry, athletic training, and further graduate research.
