• DMA in Music Theory from the University of Oregon

Kenneth Narducci is Director of Theory and Composition Studies in the Department of Music at La Sierra University.  He joined the department in 2006 as Director of Wind and Percussion Studies, directing the Wind Ensemble, Big Band, chamber wind groups, and teaching conducting and theory courses.  In 2014, he transitioned full time into the theory classroom, where he teaches first and second year theory, counterpoint, form and analysis, and composition.

Dr. Narducci graduated with a BMus in trumpet performance from Pacific Union College and went on to the University of Oregon on a graduate teaching fellowship.  There he performed with the faculty brass quintet, wind ensemble and orchestra, and taught undergraduate brass and theory courses.  He earned a DMA in Music Theory, specializing in pedagogy and the music of Pulitzer Prize winning composer Joseph Schwantner (

Before coming to La Sierra, Dr. Narducci taught at PUC for 25 years, and was recognized with the local and national Zapara Excellence in Teaching Awards in the humanities in 1990, and the PUC Educator of the Year award in 1995.  The PUC Wind Ensemble was a featured ensemble at the West/Northwest Division CBDNA Conference in 1996, and had many appearances with the CSU Fresno Wind Festival during that time.   Since 2006, the La Sierra University Wind Ensemble has also garnered high praise in adjudication at CSU Fresno Wind Festivals, was one of ten featured ensembles at the College Band Directors National Association West/Northwest Division Conference in Reno in 2010, and shared the gala evening concert with Cal State University Fresno at the 34thAnnual Dr. Lawrence R. Sutherland Wind Festival in March 2013.

In addition to arranging and writing for the groups he has directed over the years, Dr. Narducci enjoys reading, hiking and golf.  He is married to Julie, La Sierra’s Director of Alumni Relations, and they are happily owned by three felines –  Sukho, Kiji and Latte.
