Audition Requirements

Sing a-cappella:

  1. One octave ascending and descending major scale
  2. One octave ascending and descending minor scale
  3. One octave ascending chromatic major scale
  4. One octave ascending and descending pentatonic scale
  5. Up to 5 notes echo
  6. Intervals
  7. Sight singing

Prepare, to the best of your ability, your appropriate voice part of the following pieces (click title for PDF):

1.  Aboon Dbashmayo (entire piece; basses focus especially after bar 18)
          The Syriac text is written so that vowels are as close to latin as possible.
2.  Gloria (entire piece; sopranos/altos prepare solos only if wish to be considered)

ABOUT THE GROUP

The La Sierra University Chamber Singers, directed by  Dr. Ariel Quintana , is a select group of young musicians united by their interest in music. It is devoted to the development of musicianship, artistic expression, and cultivating new audiences for this wonderful medium. Membership is by audition and  includes undergraduate and graduates students who represent the varied majors and programs at La Sierra University. Most of the student members of the ensemble receive scholarships for their participation.

The La Sierra University Chorale, directed by Dr. Ariel Quintana, is an inclusive ensemble that welcomes all seeking to be a part of fun and exciting musical experience. Students do not have to be a music major to be part of the ensemble.

Chamber Singers Rehearsal Schedule: Tuesdays 6:00pm-9:00pm; Fridays 11:00am-1:00pm

University Chorale Rehearsal Schedule: Tuesdays 6:00pm-9:00pm
