Why Business?

Every job, every career in our economy is involved in at least one three things - designing, managing, or providing products, services, and experiences.

Doctors, teachers, engineers, scientists, musicians, and everyone in-between have to face the same business challenges, principles, and ideas we study in business school. As future professionals in any field, college students benefit from any level of engagement with the study of business, whether it be through a single course, a minor, a major, or graduate degree.

Learning at the ZSB

Creating value and making a difference is more than just a tagline.

This philosophy is embedded into the framework of our programs and individual courses. In our world, ideas like business ethics and social and environmental responsibility sometimes seem to only exist as part of public relations operations for an organization.

We believe these instead should be at the core of everything we design and do in business, which is why we include courses such as business ethics and social entrepreneurship as part of our core program requirements.

Push Further in our Labs

Go beyond the classroom and engage in real-life ideation and prototyping in our new Innovation Lab.

The lab includes four MarkForged Onyx 3D prototype printers and one MarkTwo 3D printer which is capable of printing industrial-grade parts with high temperature fiberglass as well as kevlar, regular fiberglass, and carbon fiber. The system comes with Markforged browser-based 3D printing software, Eiger, which allows easy project collaboration. These top-tier industrial grade printers can make any sort of 3D prototype part and are cloud-managed. They are used by such powerhouse organizations as Google, Amazon, Ford, NASA, and the U.S. Air Force.

Conduct real trades and manage our investment portfolio in the Finance Lab.

Through the Finance Lab and its accompanying Investor Club, students are able to participate in financial management and investing activities including trading stocks, options, futures, bonds and mutual funds from more than 50 global exchanges. Students can also utilize our state-of-the-art StockTrak software for virtual trading.

The lab’s ZSB Investor Club, open to La Sierra students, employees and alumni, will manage the growth of a $100,000 portfolio for the business school, with a future portfolio potential of $250,000 to invest.

Enactus

The La Sierra University Enactus Team is one of over 1,500 teams in thirty-nine countries using the positive power of business to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.

Our team operates as a catalyst for sustainable development, ensuring that its transformative work can grow and continue in the future even without further Enactus’ involvement.

Enactus members from across the university work together, applying all that they learn in the classroom, and design projects to address some of the most difficult problems facing our world today.
