Credential Descriptions

La Sierra University's School of Education provides the following credentials both on campus and online for both public and private education systems.

Seventh-day Adventist School System

The basic credential for teaching in Seventh-day Adventist church schools is issued through each Union Education Office in the North American Division. Requirements for the credential may be obtained through the Union Education office for the region in which you reside. See the NAD Web site for the contact person at: https://adventisteducation.org/

State of California

The preliminary credential to teach in the public schools of California is issued by the Commission of Teacher Education in Sacramento, California. La Sierra University School of Education teaches the courses, advises, and provides assistance for assembling final documents for submission to the State.

The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing maintains data on assessments and standards for teacher certification and licensure, as well as data on the performance of teacher and preparation programs.
