Allred Center for Financial Literacy

Welcome to the Edward C. Allred Center for Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship. This center, in the La Sierra University School of Business exists to promote free market economics through the education of students, with a focus on Seventh-day Adventist high schools. Established in 2010, the center provides high school students with interactive, online materials that teach them the principles and practices of financial literacy and personal finance. It also sponsors a lecture series on free market economics at Adventist high schools. In the summer, the center offers a boot camp on entrepreneurship for selected high school students and a workshop on free market economics for high school instructors on the university campus. It also conducts annual award programs for high school students who submit essays on free market economics and for high school economics instructors who bring innovation and creativity to the teaching of free market economics. About the Founder

The Edward C. Allred Center is named for Dr. Edward C. Allred, the owner, president and CEO of Los Alamitos Race Course, Los Alamitos, California. Dr. Allred, an alumnus of La Sierra University, is both the principal sponsor of the center and the inspiration behind its economic philosophy. The center combines his passion for the improvement of high school education, particularly as embodied in Seventh-day Adventist secondary schools, and his commitment to the principles and practice of free market economics.
I believe that Americans should be able to pursue their dreams in a society that is as free from government regulation and intervention as possible. Markets should be open and not unnecessarily subject to government control. People do not need to be protected from themselves. They should learn this as early as possible and practice it throughout their lives."
