Private Scholarships Financial Assistance

Keeping quality Christian education affordable is vital to us, and at La Sierra University we are committed to helping students achieve their educational goals. Sometimes, outside sources are the missing piece to help "fill the gap." Did you know that there are thousands of private companies who have money to give away? To assist you, we've compiled links for Private Scholarship applications for our students.

PLEASE NOTE: All Private Scholarships are provided through entities outside of La Sierra University. We are not involved in selecting recipients nor can we check the status of a student's application. If selected for a private scholarship,  the awarding entity will contact the student, and the money will be sent directly to La Sierra University.

Private Scholarship Search Engines

There are many private scholarship search engines available to students! Here are our top tips:

DOs

  • Apply for as many as possible! Private scholarships are usually open for anyone in the United States to apply for, but the competition shouldn't discourage you from trying! Set aside some time (school breaks are a great time to do this!) to dedicate to scholarship applications. Students who put in the time, usually see rewards.
  • Make your search specific. You can search for: "College Scholarships for ________________" and in that blank you can enter your major, ethnicity, religion, hobby, talent, city, age, hair color, height, favorite sport... you name it!!
  • Prepare 1 essay. Some scholarship applications will ask you for an essay, and rather than having to re-write one every time, we recommend you have one prepared that you can edit and adapt to the specific scholarship you are applying to.

DON'Ts

  • Never place yourself at risk of identity theft. This means that you should never provide your Social Security Number (SSN) to apply for a scholarship. Scholarship entities do not need your SSN in order to award you.

  • Don't pay to apply for a scholarship. If a company is asking for your credit/debit card in order to apply for a scholarship, they are likely trying to scam you.
