Peer-Led Learning

What is Peer-Led Learning?

La Sierra’s Peer-Led Learning is a co-curricular support program for STEM classes that typically have a lower class pass rate. Sessions are led by students who have successfully taken the course previously.

Peer-led Learning takes place at a regularly scheduled time from Week 2 through Week 10 each quarter, with Math 006 and 007 beginning Week 1. It is held in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Student Common Area in Palmer Hall, Room 254.

Peer-led Learning activities include:

  • Learning necessary skills for the course to competency
  • Interactive or collaborative small-group activities to engage in the learning process
  • Mnemonics, acronyms or songs for remembering formulas, cycles or processes
  • Socratic approach to learning
